Grand Prix of Baltimore looking for more volunteers

BALTIMORE (July 18, 2013) – Looking for a way to turbo charge your Labor Day weekend?

The Grand Prix of Baltimore presented by SRT is seeking up to 750 volunteers to assist in the planning and production of the three-day Charm City street racing event. Volunteers will have the opportunity to enjoy exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to this year’s Grand Prix of Baltimore and receive special rewards throughout the weekend.

Grand Prix volunteers are needed for the following roles: accessibility ambassadors, event ceremonies support, credentials staffing, fan zones staffing, guest services information, hospitality, media center support, office services, pass control marshals, track services, transportation, ushers and volunteer services.

Volunteers will be asked to commit to a minimum of three 6.5-hour shifts during race weekend, including at least one shift on Sunday, or for departments that operate prior to, during and following the event weekend, a total of 25 hours. In exchange, Grand Prix of Baltimore volunteers will receive:

  • ·         A race credential providing admission to the venue and paddock access for all three days of the event.
  • ·         An official Grand Prix of Baltimore volunteer uniform, which includes a shirt and hat.
  • ·         Continental breakfast and lunch for all three days of the event.
  • ·         Complimentary parking for all three days of the event.
  • ·         A 10% discount on Grand Prix of Baltimore tickets and merchandise.
  • ·         An invitation to special events held before and after the Grand Prix of Baltimore.
  • ·         A thank you certificate and commemorative lapel pin upon completion of the volunteer commitment.
  • ·         The opportunity to enjoy the event’s sights and sounds when “off-duty.”

All volunteers are required to be 16 years of age or older and must be accompanied by an adult relative, if under 18.

The third annual Grand Prix of Baltimore presented by SRT is one of only two events in the United States to feature the IZOD IndyCar Series and the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) presented by Tequila Patron in the same weekend. The IZOD IndyCar Series runs 75 laps around the Grand Prix’s 12-turn, two-mile street course adjacent to the famed Inner Harbor in downtown Baltimore. The ALMS race is a timed competition, with the team completing the most laps in 2 hours and 45 minutes taking the victory. The Grand Prix of Baltimore presented by SRT also includes Firestone Indy Lights racing and, for the first time in 2013, the largest single-make series in North America: the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama.

The Esskay Family Fun Zone houses a wealth of interactive games and activities for parents and children of all ages in an indoor, climate-controlled environment.
