In the second match of a two-game Thanksgiving weekend road trip, the Blast defeated the previously unbeaten Missouri Comets, 12-4, to improve to 7-0. Rookie Tino Nunez led the way with a hat trick.
After nearly 25 minutes of scoreless play, the Blast struck first, when Machel Millwood scored in the 10th minute of the second quarter. Adauto Neto and Nunez added goals in the next three minutes to increase Baltimore’s lead to 6-0 at halftime.
The Comets scored the first goal of the second half to cut the Blast lead to 6-2 but Max Ferdinand scored and Nunez knocked in his second goal of the night to extend the Blast lead to 10-2 heading into the final quarter.
Nunez completed his hat trick early in the fourth quarter, making it 12-2. The Comets scored a PK late in the game but were unable to overcome the early deficit and Baltimore’s team defense.
The Blast has kicked off their 33rd season of professional indoor soccer in Baltimore with seven straight wins, marking the seventh time since the 1992-93 season the team has started with five or more wins.
