Blast Clinch Playoff Spot in Win at Syracuse  

The Baltimore Blast traveled to Syracuse tonight to play the Silver Knights for the third time this season. The Blast defeated the Knights 12-10. The win tonight brought the Blast to an 11-3 record for the season and clinched a playoff spot for the Blast.

The first quarter was a low scoring start to the game. Lucas Roque got the Blast on the board first with 12:28 on the clock. Nate Bourdeau answered for the Knights first goal of the game assisted by Slavisa Ubiparapovic. That was followed by another Knights goal by Machel Millwood with 0:01 left in the quarter.

Lucio Gonzaga scored the first goal in the second quarter off an assist from Marco Mangione at 12:58 on the clock. This was Gonzaga’s 8th goal on the season. The Knights regained the lead when Nelson Santana scored off the assist from Slavisa Ubiparapovic.  With 2:22 remaining in the quarter Nelson Santana scored again off of a restart. At the half the score was Blast 4, Silver Knights 8.

The second half picked up for the Blast with JT Noone scoring early (14:50), the goal was assisted by Max Ferdinand for the team’s third goal of the night. Neto of the Knights added a goal off the third assist of the night for Slavisa Ubiparapovic with7:33 left on the clock. Pat Healey added a shorthanded goal for the Blast off of an assist from Marco Mangione. Mike Lookingland followed with his tenth goal of the year, assisted by Diego Zuniga, with 1:29 left in the 3rd tying the game at 10.

The Blast captured their lead in the 4th quarter and gained control. Blast’s Max Ferdinand scored at 2:50 into the quarter off an assist from Mike Lookingland. At the final buzzer, the Blast had won12-10.

The Blast played a great game tonight on the road and their away record is now 4-2. Offensively, Mike Lookingland led the Blast with 3 points and defensively, goalkeeper, William Vanzela recorded 26 saves. The Blast are now tied for first place in the MISL and look to next week when they are on the road again facing both St. Louis and Missouri.
