It’s time to honor some local sports “saints” with our #WNSTSweet16

5. Ray Lewis

The Ray Lewis Family Foundation has had a major impact on disadvantaged members of our community over the years. Perhaps even more significantly is the amount of personal one on one time Lewis spent with Baltimoreans dealing with various issues in their lives.

If you have never watched the NFL Network documentary “A Football Life: Ray Lewis”, it will be difficult to not be caught in the emotion of seeing Lewis spend time with Dundalk resident “Poppa” Bill Warble in the months before his death. The video is not available to be shared here but is worth watching.

    I seem to recall when he was inducted into the Ravens Ring of Honor that Michael McCrary was mentioned as one of the most significant charitable athletes in Baltimore sports history.
