Luke Scott’s shoulder injury deemed not serious

May 12, 2009 | Drew Forrester

There’s good news and bad news as far as Luke Scott goes.

The good news:  His shoulder injury is nothing more than a mild sprain and he expects to be in the lineup in Kansas City later this week.

The bad news:  With Scott out and Lou Montanez penciled in as the righthanded DH, that means Luke will have to watch Felix Pie wield a bat and wear a glove for the next few days.  That should good for a dugout giggle or two, at the very least.

The MRI on Scott’s injured left shoulder revealed no tears and it appears Scott is only suffering a sprain after being injured diving back into first base on Sunday afternoon vs. the Yankees.

Now, if the O’s could put Felix Pie’s bat in an MRI machine to figure out what’s ailing that piece of lumber — they might be OK.

The Orioles also made a minor roster move this morning, sending Mike Contanz0 from Triple-A Norfolk to Double-A Bowie to make room for recently acquired Joey Gathright, who joins the Tides after spending the first month of the season with the Cubs.
