Nice work O’s – but sorry, it’s ‘Draft Week’ – and that means…

April 23, 2007 | Drew Forrester

…you have to take a seat behind the Ravens.

A very nice 4-game win streak from the O’s, punctuated by a sweep of the Blue Jays this weekend, has put the baseball faithful in high spirits.  Unfortunately, most of Baltimore will spend this next week more focused on the NFL draft than the Birds.  I know on The Comcast Morning Show, we’re going to have virtually the entire AFC represented this week with writers or radio talk show types previewing (on a team-by-team basis) the upcoming draft.  Tomorrow, we’ll take a look at the Bengals and the Bills.  Once we get through the draft, the O’s have center stage again until at least the end of July when Ravens training camp starts.

It IS good to see the O’s off to this kind of start.  If they’re going to reach that 85-win figure I predicted for 2007, I think it’s imperative they don’t stumble out of the gate…and they haven’t.  I like the fact that they’re 5-1 against the “doormats” of the A.L. – namely K.C. and Tampa Bay.  That’s what good teams do…they beat up on the cellar dwellers.

I’m covering the Monday and Wednesday night home games this week.  I’ll be blogging from the ballpark tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Talk to you in the AM.
