The Baltimore Orioles are reaching back into their past as a hopeful part of their future.
The Orioles drafted Gilman 1B Ryan Ripken, son of Orioles Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr Wednesday in the 20th round of the MLB Amateur Draft, and they certainly would love to have a part of their history suit up for this year’s organization soon.
Ripken hit .377 with 25 RBIs while scoring 20 runs for Gilman this season.
He was also 4-1 with a 2.30 ERA pitching his senior year for the Greyhounds.
However, it is unlikely that Ripken will sign. He committed to the University of South Carolina for the fall to play baseball, and the Ripken family has been adamant about their desire to see him attend the school to continue his baseball career.
