Orioles Series Preview: Home vs. Detroit Tigers April 4th- April 7th

April 04, 2011 | John Collingsworth

The Baltimore Orioles just made the 2011 Opening Day at Camden Yards one of the most anticipated games since… well… the Ravens moved in next door.

This is the first time since 1997 that the O’s have started the season 3-0. The ’97 season was when the team went Wire-to-Wire, the last ball club to do so.

Out of the 30 teams in the MLB, only four currently have an undefeated record (Rangers, Phillies, Reds & Orioles).

Since 2002, the Orioles have won but only two games in the their season openers at the Yard (L – 2008 & 2010).

As the Tigers come to town, the Black and Orange will fill the stands to watch the great Earl Weaver (Invented the art of being ejected!!!!) throw out the first pitch and more importantly, sing “Thank God I’m a Country Boy”, with an ice cold Natty Boh in hand during the 7th inning stretch.
