The Orioles announced Tuesday that they signed right-handed pitchers Eddie Gamboz and Zach Clark to minor-league contracts.
The 29-year-old Gamboa will receive an invitation to spring training and went 4-6 with a 3.64 earned run average in 16 starts at Double-A Bowie and 2-5 with a 6.23 ERA in nine starts at Triple-A Norfolk. The knuckleballer was on the Orioles’ 40-man roster earlier this offseason before being non-tendered in early December.
A UMBC product, Clark became a knuckleball pitcher last season and pitched at four different levels of the Orioles’ farm system, going 3-15 with a 7.84 ERA in 25 games. The 30-year-old made his major league debut with the Orioles on May 1 in Seattle last season and allowed three runs and three hits in 1 2/3 innings.
