Orioles sign veteran pitcher Laffey to minor-league deal

The Orioles signed veteran left-handed pitcher Aaron Laffey to a minor-league contract that does not include an invitation to major league spring training.

The 28-year-old will report to minor league camp despite despite seven years of major league experience. Laffey is 25-29 with a 4.45 earned run average in 153 career appearances spanning 487 innings in the major leagues.

He has pitched for Cleveland, the New York Yankees, the New York Mets, Seattle, and Toronto. Pitching for the Mets and the Blue Jays last season, Laffey posted a combined 7.11 ERA in 12 2/3 innings.
