O’s next offseason move should be…

December 23, 2008 |

To trade Brian Roberts.

I think that is the next domino to fall now for the Orioles. Now that Tex is headed not only to another team, but a team that you will have to see come in your stadium and mash you 19 times a season, I think Brian needs to move on.

I do not say this because I do not like Roberts, I actually think he is one of the best things this organization has going for them. He has heard the ” we are going to turn this thing around”, speech so many times, he probably wakes up in cold sweats in the middle of the night from thinking about it.

Brian deserves to go play for a team that has a chance to contend, he has been the good soldier here in Baltimore, been a tremendous community guy, a stand up guy, even following his name coming out in the Mitchell Report, he has always said and done the right things. He has seen four managers come in during his time here, Sammy Sosa, Miguel Tejada, Javy Lopez, Sidney Ponson,Rafael Palmerio,Aubrey Huff,Alex Cintron,etc.,etc., come to Baltimore with the promise that they were going to help turn this team around, only to end up in the same place all of the time. Out of the playoffs.

I for one hope that the Orioles find a time that is interested in the services of Brian Roberts, he deserves it. Plus, do you really think he is going to resign here after what he has seen transpire this early in the offseason ?
