After playing an important role on the Orioles’ first playoff team in 15 years, left-handed pitcher Joe Saunders has reportedly found a new home with the Seattle Mariners.
The 31-year-old agreed to a one-year contract after failing to attract a multi-year offer from any teams this offseason. The Orioles were interested in retaining Saunders’ services but were only offering a one-year deal.
Saunders was acquired last August from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for relief pitcher Matt Lindstrom. He went 3-3 with a 3.63 ERA in seven regular-season starts with the Orioles and was the winning pitcher in the inaugural wild-card playoff game against the Texas Rangers on Oct. 5.
