O’s Rich Hill scratched from first spring training start

Rich Hill (LHP) has been removed from today’s Orioles lineup and will not start against the Washington Nationals in Viera, FL due to left elbow stiffness.

David Pauley – acquired in the off-season from Boston – will get the start instead.  Pauley was originally scheduled to follow Hill in today’s Grapefruit League game against the Nats.

Hill pitched in only 5 games for the Cubs last season while battling injuries and was acquired in January for a player to be named later.

If he only pitches 5 games for the Orioles this year, the Cubs might just wink and say, “let’s just call it even…you can keep Hill and his medical bills.”

The O’s beat the Marlins, 4-2, on Saturday.
