Bring On the Colts

December 30, 2012 | Marty Mossa

Bring on the Indianapolis Colts. The Indy Colts will invade Baltimore next Saturday to open the wildcard playoff round in the NFL. Indy brings with them some feel good stories. This year’s number one pick Andrew Luck is one of three rookies to lead his team to the playoffs. He joins some good company, RGIII from Washington, and Russell Wilson from Seattle. DC of course must beat Dallas tonight in order to qualify for the playoffs.

Another feel good story is Chuck Pagono. The former Raven defensive coordinator returns to M&T Bank Stadium after spending most of the season undergoing treatment for leukemia. Pagono is in remission and was on the sidelines today as the Colts undressed a fading Houston Texans team that dropped from the number one seed to the number three seed.

The Colts and Ravens have met on the gridiron a total of 12 times. The Colts own a 9-3 record. They are also 2-0 in the postseason against the Ravens. There was the infamous 2007 15-6 shocker in the divisional round, and the loss in Indy in January of 2010.

The Ravens will kick off against the Colts next Sunday at 1pm. If the Ravens beat the Colts, it will depend on the winner of the Houston/Bengals winner. If Houston wins, the Ravens would travel to Denver and Houston to New England. A Ravens win with a Bengals win would have the Ravens going to New England, and the Bengals going to Denver.

But it will be first things first. The Ravens are 10-7 in post season play. They need to beat Indy first on Sunday to advance.
