As we wait for Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco’s six-year, $120.6 million contract to be finalized on Monday, details are beginning to emerge on how the money will be distributed over the record-setting deal.

Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reports the 28-year-old will make $62 million over the first three years of the deal, which trumps the $61 million New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is scheduled to make over the first three years of the deal he signed last year. Flacco will average $20.1 million per season in comparison to the $20 million per year Brees averages with his five-year, $100 million contract.

Most importantly for the Ravens in the immediate future, the deal includes only a $7 million cap number for the 2013 season, which is less than half the $14.9 million the team would have forked over by using the non-exclusive franchise tag on the quarterback.
