1:56-TE Todd Heap:

-Monday Night Football is “always exciting”
-Jamal Lewis “one of the most physical running backs to play the game”….a back who had “size and speed”
-“We’re still working on” determining “definition” of football team
-“Getting off to a faster start” is one of the team’s goals.
-Team has “gotta support and put all of our encouragement behind” Steve Hauschka
-Flacco has been a “steady factor”, “doesn’t get too down.”

1:54-LB Ray Lewis:

-On whether he needs to show extra emotion in locker room: “It might be too much right now.”
-On aggressive penalties: “You just gotta keep playing football.”
-On whether it matters if Quinn or Anderson plays: “not at all.”
-On Hauschka’s missed FG “a mistake is a mistake:
-He hopes Jamal Lewis “changes his mind.” He thinks Jamal should “ride it out” in Cleveland.
-“It doesn’t get more classic” than facing Jamal. A “clash of the titans.”
-He has great memories of watching the Cowboys and 49ers on Monday Night Football, especially Ronnie Lott.

1:51-WR Derrick Mason:

-On up and down season for Ravens: “It’s the NFL”
-On coverage he’s been seeing: “When a team is good in one area, you focus on that area.”
-“I didn’t play a good game (at Cincinnati)… was an embarrassment.”
-Bengals “mixed” coverages against him-zone and man.
-“Mental errors” have been a part of 1st half struggles
-“Once we get going (offensively), it’s hard to stop us.”
-“It’s a challenge” for Ravens to make playoffs.
-Browns are “gonna really test our character moving forward.”
-“I like the challenge” of having teams “zero in on me.”

1:48-QB Joe Flacco:

-“We just didn’t play as good as we should’ve Sunday” against Bengals. “I don’t know if we were mentally ready.”
-“I don’t think we’ve been predictable all year.”
-Doesn’t feel the need to be a more vocal or rah-rah in the locker room: “I think everybody understands what it means this week.” He does recognize that a “jump start” is needed, and there is “definitely a time” to go beyond the usual attitude he brings to the team. However, if he does choose to become more vocal, he doesn’t “need to make it known to the public.”

1:44-We heard from plenty of players and John Harbaugh today, here is a smattering of things we heard:

Coach John Harbaugh:
-Browns “run the same offense” whether Brady Quinn on Derek Anderson playing QB
-Steve Hauschka “is a talented kicker”…..”we want him to make kicks right now.”
-“It’s always important to start as well as you can.”
-He considers both Dwan Edwards and Trevor Pryce starters despite Edwards being listed as starter on depth chart
-“Big plays and 3rd down conversions” have hurt Ravens defensively in 1st half
-Determination on whether to activate a player comes down to “how many reps is a guy going to play?”
-He declined comment on what role Fabian Washington and Lardarius Webb would play Monday night if Fabian is healthy

1:29-Neither Fabian Washington (thigh) nor Haloti Ngata (ankle) was seen out on the practice field during the portion of practice that is open to the media. Dannell Ellerbe was a late arrival-and did not appear as though he would be a full participant. He was pulled from the field with what appears may be an illness. The Ravens were practicing outdoors today, presumably due to the unknown nature of weather in Cleveland.

12:55-Hear from the following NOW in the Audio Vault at

Coach John Harbaugh
QB Joe Flacco
TE Todd Heap
WR Derrick Mason
LB Ray Lewis
LB/DE Terrell Suggs

11:14-Greetings from 1 Winning Drive, where we will get the chance to actually see an injury report today, and we will hope for updates on Fabian Washington (thigh) and Haloti Ngata (ankle). The Baltimore Ravens are continuing preparations for Monday Night Football, where they’ll face the Cleveland Browns at Cleveland Browns Stadium. We are scheduled to hear from John Harbaugh today, as well as the regular Wednesday cast of characters-Ray Lewis, Joe Flacco, Derrick Mason, etc.

I have added yesterday’s conference call with Browns RB Jamal Lewis to the Audio Vault at We don’t usually record conference calls, but given the significance of the last game Jamal is playing against his final team, I thought it was appropriate.

Back with more shortly.
