Live From….My Couch? Ravens Busy on Off Day

September 15, 2009 | Glenn Clark

Just a couple quick notes to pass along while I sit on my couch today thanks to the off day.

One-The Ravens have brought back TE Davon Drew, signing him to their practice squad. Drew looked he was the last man cut when the Ravens trimmed the roster to 53 (he was initially ON the roster, then his name disappeared after the Ravens acquired OL Tony Moll from the Packers in the Derrick Martin trade), and the Ravens certainly had to be reluctant to allow another Draft choice to sign elsewhere. This means the Ravens maintain the rights to 5 of their 6 picks this season (Cedric Peerman). Drew was a 5th round pick out of East Carolina. After being cut by the Ravens he was signed by the Dolphins, but they waived him with an injury settlement.

Two-I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see the Ravens show interest in WR Hank Baskett, who was released today by the Eagles. Baskett has familiarity with John Harbaugh from their time together in Philadephia. It is no shoe-in considering the Ravens apparently had mixed interest in Greg Lewis when he was released by the Patriots; but Baskett would make sense. I’ve heard rumors that Baskett has some sort of famous wife……

Three-According to the San Diego Union-Tribune (via Twitter), the Chargers expect RB LaDainian Tomlinson to be a game-time decision for Sunday with an ankle injury. He is not expected to practice tomorrow. Same for Louis Vasquez and Nick Hardwick.
