Look Out Ravens: Buzzards Are Circling Above

November 19, 2013 | Marty Mossa

Two weeks ago I said the Ravens were on life support. Some how they squeezed by the Bengals and their vital signs improved. But after the blown 10-0 lead and totally inept offense in the Windy City Sunday; I can’t see any scenario that will allow the Purple Birds to make the postseason.

Baltimore is now 12th vying for the number 6th AFC playoff spot. They play the Jets next week, and the Steelers in nine days on Thanksgiving Night. With five teams in front of the Ravens and only six games remaining the Ravens would have to virtually run the table and need additional help. Unfortunately the season of what ifs continued on Sunday: what if the Ravens would have played conservative and ran the clock down at the end of the first half against the Bears, what if Joe wouldn’t have looked like Kyle Boller against Buffalo, what if the Ravens O-coordinator Jim Caldwell would have shown some imagination on 1st and goals against the Packers and Bears; WHAT IF WHAT IF WHAT IF!!!!!!!!

Well had some of these were different, we’d have a 7-3 or 6-4 record. But we can’t change the past. Last year was a great run and we better enjoy it. And until the confetti rains down in the Meadowlands on February 2nd, we are still world champs.

But for now, watch out Purple Birds, the Buzzards are circling above and the smell of death is in the air.

Like the Ravens, are having a sub .500 years: I’m 70-87-5 against the spread. (-17)
