My first Ravens prediction

April 29, 2008 |

I honestly think that Troy Smith will start the season at quarterback. I am not saying he will play the entire year or not saying that at some point that Joe Flacco will not get into the game, but I think Troy starts. He fits the type of quarterback that Cam Cameron has used in the past, whether it was Drew Brees in San Diego, or Antwaan Randle El while he was at Indiana University.

Troy has been spending a lot of time around the facility and with Cam Cameron having basically a quarterbacks school. Here is what Cam said about Troy when he has his conference call with the media after being hired by the Ravens: On what he saw in QB Troy Smith when the Ravens played against the Dolphins: “Obviously, I’ve followed him since he was in high school, and obviously through college, and there wasn’t anything that I think I saw in that game that I hadn’t seen before. That’ll be fun to go back and look at the time he did get to play, as well as the other guys. I think these next few weeks and months, it’s going to be a good time to go back and look at all of the personnel and make those assessments and then try to build from there.”

So that is my prediction, Troy Smith will start the season, barring injury as the Ravens quarterback.
