DEFENSIVE END RAY MCDONALD

(on if he ever thought he would play in the Super Bowl) “No, I didn’t, so this is a surreal moment right now, it’s a great feeling, I’m just happy and blessed to be here. It’s just a really exciting moment for me right now.”

(on Super Bowl week) “It’s exciting. It’s a bit surreal that we’re actually here in this game. All of the hard work and all of the adversity we’ve been through, not being a very good team the first four years I have been here, it’s a big turnaround for us and it’s a great feeling to be able to be in this position.”

(on Media Day) “It’s like Mardi Gras without liquor and with cameras. It’s cool. It’s an exciting time for us.”

(on if this feels the same as most weeks) “Not right now. Mondays and Tuesdays are kind of our off days, we go in for a little bit on Tuesday, but we don’t do much. I’m pretty sure once tomorrow hits and we are in the film room, it will seem more normal for everybody.”

(on Coach Harbaugh) “He’s the same guy every week, he doesn’t change. He’s the same fiery guy, the same guy that’s always trying to come up with ways to motivate his team and to make us better. He’s the same dude.”

(on getting ready for the Super Bowl) “It all comes down to if you prepare during the week, and you work hard and you go out there and make plays you’re going to win ball games.”

(on his favorite player growing up) “I liked Ray Lewis. I know I shouldn’t be saying that, but he was one of my favorite players growing up, I used to love seeing his dance going out before the games, and the way he played. He was one of my favorite players in the league.”

(on how to slow the Ravens offense) “We’ve got to stop the run. We’ve got to keep them in third-and-seven-plus. When you put a team in third-and-seven-plus then your chances of winning are pretty high.”

(on the Ravens offensive line) “They have a good offensive line. If they didn’t they wouldn’t be in this game. They’re going to come out and play hard, we’ve got to play hard.”

(on Ravens tackle Michael Oher) “He’s primarily on the right side. I’ve got to be ready for him. He’s a good player; he’s one of the best linemen in the league. They have two good guards and a good center as well.”

(on Ravens tackle Bryant McKinnie) “He’s a good player, a big guy that can move a little bit, he can move the pile a bit.”

(on if he is doing anything special this week) “I’m not doing anything; I’m just focusing on this game. Once we get to Sunday, and we come out with a W, then I will enjoy this.”

(on if he plays as himself in Madden) “I did a couple of times. (My ratings) are pretty high in the new Madden. I’m pretty surprised.”

(on who has the best hair on the 49ers) “I do. It’s long and makes me look fierce like a lion or a beast.”
