No shock here: Harbaugh “optimistic” Mason will play in 2009

July 22, 2009 | Drew Forrester

Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh talked with Derrick Mason yesterday and the coach says he’s “optimistic and hopeful” that Mason will play for the Ravens in 2009.

Here’s the full story for your complete enjoyment.

Mason “retired” on Monday, July 13, but hasn’t yet filed the necessary paperwork with the NFL, leading many people to believe he’s merely seeking an extended off-season before reporting to camp in time for the season opener on September 13.

Mason hasn’t provided any public comment since his retirement announcement 9 days ago.
