Ravens defense buckles in OT loss at New England

File this one under “shoulda, coulda, woulda”.

Those words will be mumbled a lot by Ravens tonight and this week as Baltimore squandered not only a 4th quarter lead, but a terrific opportunity to establish themselves as a superior AFC team with a 23-20 OT loss at New England on Sunday.

Two weeks ago in Pittsburgh, it was the Steelers vaunted defense that choked under the gun as Joe Flacco nicked them for four straight completions down the stretch before ending the game with a half-minute to play on a throw to T.J. Houshmandzadeh.  Today, it was the Ravens defense that gagged it in the final 15 minutes.  And in overtime, needing ONE more stop to perhaps give Flacco and the offense the ball one more time, Tom Brady picked them apart just enough to give Stephen Gostkowski a 35-yard field goal that sewed it all up.

In Cincinnati in week #2, the Ravens stunk up the joint.
