Ravens Defense Reloaded

July 07, 2013 | Eric Green

Ray Lewis ,arguable one of the greatest defensive players to play the game…..retired. Ed Reed, one of the greatest defensive backs to lace them up……now a Houston Texan. Bernard Pollard, hard hitting safety released. A few other players also gone, but the Baltimore Ravens will be better without them.  The Ravens well known around the football world as a defensive powerhouse finished 16th in total defense. They also allowed over 100 yards rushing a game, a category where the Ravens take pride in.

Chris Canty, and Marcus Spears former New York Giant and Dallas Cowboy players were both signed this off season. With the addition of the two and progression of Arthur Jones and Purnell McPhee, the defensive line should have a great rotation. Haloti Ngata all pro defensive line man was hampered by injuries last season. With a healthy number 92 playing, the Ravens have one of the best defensive players in all of football. A good rotation will surely cut some of those rushing yards down.

Terelle Suggs and Elvis Dumerville will form thee greatest pass rush the Ravens have ever seen. Teams won’t be able to double both players so both are primed for big seasons. Dumerville was a steal for the Ravens this off season, the star defensive from Denver is coming off another double sack season. LaDarius Webb is coming back from major injury. At one point he was poised to be one of top corners in the league. Hopefully he can regain that shut down corner form. This Ravens defense will be bigger, stronger, and faster, and possibly one of the best defensive units in the NFL.
