Some scary news from Philadelphia thankfully resulted in no physical harm for Ravens running back Bernard Pierce after he was robbed at gunpoint and carjacked on Sunday evening.

According to CBS 3 in Philadelphia, the 23-year-old and a friend were shaken but not injured after an assailant robbed them at gunpoint and stole Pierce’s BMW.

The car was later recovered and processed for potential clues by police.

The Ravens emailed the following statement to the Philadelphia TV station in response to the original report: “We have been in contact with Bernard and we are aware of the situation.”

A third-round pick from Temple University in 2012, Pierce had a successful rookie campaign in which he ran for 532 yards and averaged 4.9 yards per carry while backing up Pro Bowl running back Ray Rice.
