3. Flacco grows up – Oct. 3, 2010
Only time will tell how significant the Ravens’ dramatic comeback was in Pittsburgh earlier this season — for both Joe Flacco and the 2010 team.
Flacco had not led a last-minute, game-winning drive in his three-year career, and the Ravens had squandered a go-ahead opportunity only minutes earlier. However, the defense forced the Steelers to punt from their end zone, setting up the offense on the Pittsburgh 40 with 1:08 remaining.
The young quarterback orchestrated a four-play drive that finished with this:
It was Flacco and John Harbaugh’s first win at Heinz Field after failing in their first three tries.
Pittsburgh fans will quickly point out they were without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, but there was nothing wrong with the Steelers defense that afternoon as Flacco took a significant step in his development on that October afternoon.
