After a 15-season absence from the playoffs, the Orioles put together a miraculous 2012 campaign and ousted the Texas Rangers in a one-game Wild Card playoff battle. Their reward? The New York Yankees. After losing Game 1 of the best-of-5 in Baltimore, the Birds won Game 2 and held a slim 2-1 lead in Game 3 in the Bronx. With Jim Johnson on the mound to close it out and a 2-1 series lead in the air, Ibanez delivered the game-tying home run with one out in the bottom of the 9th. Three innings later, he would do it again, this time off Brian Matusz, giving the Yankees a 3-2 victory. While the Orioles came back to even the series the next night, a Game 5 loss made the Ibanez heroics in Game 3 stand out even more.
