6. Beth Botsford, swimming

Another prodigy of the North Baltimore Aquatic Club, Botsford won two gold medals at the age of 15 in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Excelling in the backstroke, the Baltimore native won the 100-meter backstroke and was a member of the gold-winning 400-meter medley relay.

Over the next 10 years, Botsford won a total of six national championships, broke the American and U.S. Open records in the 200-meter backstroke, and was an NCAA champion and 16-time All-American for the University of Arizona.

    Another name for consideration would be Larry Surock. Baltimore Native, Patterson High Grad, UB All American and member of the 1952 US Olympic Soccer Team.
    He is in the UB Athletic Hall of Fame and the MD Soccer Hall of Fame.
    He should at least be mentioned with this group.
