1st Annual Village at Lakeview Soccer Camp A Big Success

June 30, 2008 |

This past week the 1st Annual Village at Lakeview Summer Soccer Camp was held in Edgewood. From the turn out of kids and volunteers it was a huge success.

127 kids from the Edgewood area turned out for the daily camp. The youngest child was 3 and the oldest was 14. The improvement from day one to the last day was incredible!! There were several kids that proved talented enough to be playing on area club teams.

The kids were treated with special clinics put on by Barry Stitz, the Boy’s Head Soccer Coach at Curley High School, who gave out shirts and shorts to several of the kids. The Crystal Palace FC showed up on Friday in their usual show of force with Coach Jim Cherneski, Patrick Healey and Mike Lookingland. The three put on a clinic for the kids and then spent time signing autograph’s. Jimmy then surprised all the kids with free tickets to an upcoming game. Kevin Healey GM of the Blast also sent an offer of tickets for next season.

As one of the coaches I would like to thank all those who helped as volunteers, coaches and special guests to make the 1st camp a success. Without all their help the event would not have went out as easy as it did!!

Soon I will be working on others in the soccer community for next year. If you are interested in helping or donating for next year feel free to contact Mike Goodson at mkgoodson@provbank.com or you can always get in touch with me.
