50 words or less …. 5 bold guarantees

May 26, 2011 |

I rarely make GUARANTEES. Whether it’s my interest in sports or any other social subject, I find it hard to guarantee anything that bears no control on my part. But, I will occasionally focus on a few things that I just KNOW are gonna happen …..

It’s not as if I’m wishing good or bad luck on anyone. I’m not a big believer in luck; beyond the belief that good and/or bad fortune usually finds the appropriate destination, especially as it relates to competition.

And, most importantly, I wholeheartedly acknowledge the reality that history repeats itself, over and over …..

Based on the above considerations and with guidance from my Magic 8-Ball, I’m casting FIVE GUARANTEES that will absolutely come true. As always, each one will be shared in “50 words or less …..”
.
.
Cleveland will be CLEVELAND
.

The attention being garnered by the Indians certainly serves up as the “feel good story” of the early stages of this 2011 Major League Baseball season …..

Listen to me !!!! Don’t buy into the hype and don’t believe in a product we’ve seen fade many, many times. Go back just one year and recall the surprising San Diego Padres.

The Indians are comprised of stars who cannot stay healthy and subpar talent that has overachieved for two months. The truth eventually surfaces; Cleveland will not host any baseball games, in October.

Keep Your 2011 NFL Schedule
.

Don’t despair and don’t fall for the ludicrous castings that our world will come to a crashing end … or gas will soon be $5 per gallon … or the NFL will cancel the 2011 season.

Not happening …..

Neither side has lost a thing … yet. And, when push comes to shove and July rolls around, NOBODY will simply resolve to missing mortgage and vehicle payments.
.
.
A Very Rich Summer
.

Yep, I know U2 is coming to Baltimore. I will be at that show …..

And, I know Kenny Chesney is coming to Fed Ex Field. I will not be at that show …..

However, I guarantee that as both of these traveling circuses spend their summer blanketing the United States, it will be Kenny Chesney’s “Goin’ Coastal” tour that nets the biggest haul of cash.

.
20 x 5 =
.

When the regular season comes to an end, the Orioles will finish with 5 players hitting 20+ homeruns.

Who? That’s too tough to predict. Remember, I’m making guarantees.

But, it’s coming.

Bad Decision
.

On Wednesday, Danica Patrick announced she’s headed to NASCAR for a full-time ride, 2012. Will she be successful in switching to stock cars?

Nope.

Danica has displayed a propensity for not wanting to “mix it up” when it comes to the beatin’ and bangin’ nature of the NASCAR culture. She is accustomed to open wheel racing, where cars making contact is a VERY BAD THING.

Ironically, so is her decision to join NASCAR.

I’ll talk with you at 2pm …. have a GREAT Thursday !!!!
