A few final thoughts

May 17, 2009 |

This blog is about four days later than it should be, but as usual, my time has been consumed by the Ravens’ New Media department. As it should be, since that’s where my paychecks come from and they’re the priority. But after failing to make the cut of the “King of Baltimore Sports Media” competition here on WNST, I just wanted to share a few last words.

This is an ever-changing, ever-evolving business, and if you don’t change and evolve with it, you’ll never be successful. You need to work both harder and smarter than your competition, and you have let it consume you completely. I think I’ve been doing that. I just didn’t do it with WNST.

Ultimately, everything I needed to do in this competition I was already doing for BaltimoreRavens.com. That took up all my energy, so when it came time to blog for 1570, I was basically just tapped.  As a result, I pursued this competition perhaps a little bit more casually than I should have. But I had some new experiences, had some fun and learned a lot. That’s essentially all I can ask for.

So, I’ll continue to pour myself into this business for BaltimoreRavens.com, until my internship ends at the end of August anyway. I’m sorry whatever contributions I could have made to WNST suffered along the way, but such is life I guess.

So, thanks again for anyone who read this, and good luck to those who made it to the finals of the competition.
