A Night With The O’s

April 05, 2008 |

Last night my family and I went to our 1st O’s game of the year. We usually go to around 20-25 games a year. Our 3 year old Connor loves to get to the ball park early to try and get autograph’s from the players. He need really good yesterday!!

Our seats are usually in the left field bleachers, but due to the lack of fans in the stands, we moved down the left field line to sit with friends of ours. Figures, last night we move and all the O’s home runs were ending up right where we were suppose to be sitting!!

When the crowd was announced at 14,429, we were all surprised that it was that many people in the stands. For a small crowd the fans were very loud!! Alot of people missed a good and entertaining game.

Steve Trachsel pitched a strong 5.2 innings to receive his 1st win of the season. Several times it looked like he was ready to fall apart, but the Mariners helped him out of a few tight spots. The O’s bats were alive with three home runs last night; Kevin Millar, Ramon Hernandez and Melvin Mora all hit home runs.

The real reason I wanted to go to the game last night was to see Adam Jones play. This kid is going to be really good!! He is far better then what Corey Patterson was last year. I watched him cover center field as if he has been in the big leagues for several years. Just wait until his bat starts to come around!! He hit a big double in last night’s game.

In the 9th inning I started to say here we go again. It started to look as if the O’s were going to blow a 5 run lead, as they had done many times over the past couple of years. But George Sherrill came in and closed the game for his 2nd save of the year.

I know it is early in the season, but this team looks good so far!! Not yet a playoff team, but good enough not to be in the cellar this year!! Atleast it was fun again to be in the stands!!
