A tale of two cities, in one city

I cannot help but hear the news this afternoon of Baltimore Ravens Assistant General Manager Eric DeCosta announcing that he is staying with the Ravens and think the following thought…….

The Baltimore Orioles had an opening for their General Manager position and assistant general managers from around the league took their calls and said, very loudly, “No thank you, I’m not interested in interviewing for that position with your team.”

There are several high profile General Manager positions open in the NFL, the Colts and the Bears, and those teams called the Ravens and ask for permission to speak to Eric DeCosta about interviewing for their General Manager positions. The Ravens granted those teams permission to talk to Eric. Eric DeCosta said “No thank you, I’m not interested in leaving this organization to become your General Manager. Thank you.”

One of these situations endears itself with a sense of civic pride and joy that they are our home team and we are lucky to have them in our lives. The other situation is classic Orioles.
