Adam Jones at the ESPN Zone

April 18, 2008 |

On Thursday April 17th Adam Jones had a questions and autograph session at the ESPN Zone from Noon to 1 PM.

The interviewer for the session was Joe Angel, the radio voice for the O’s. Joe is a great guy who is alot of fun at these events. He always has the crowd involved during the questions part of the event. Alot of people don’t know that Joe was the starting QB on the same high school team as OJ Simpson.

I went to see Adam in person to see if he is really the guy people have been telling me about. Also I went to take my son and get his autograph!! Adam seems genuine and nice to talk to. He was a little shy at first when the session started, but as the session went along he became more involved with the crowd.

I heard what I wanted to hear when Adam told the crowd of around 250 people he expects alot out of his self and the O’s in the near future. He told the crowd he wants to win and will do everything he can to help the O’s to reach this point.

It is refreshing to hear something from an O’s player in this respect. In the past several of the O’s players during these events have just told the crowd what they have thought the crowd wanted to hear. From the expression and the tone of Adam’s voice you could tell that he means what he is saying.

This kid is going to be special here in Baltimore if we let him grow. He has all the tools and is naturally a gifted athlete. I think we got the better end of this trade!!
