Adam Jones, you Sir are a beast!!!

May 12, 2009 |

When the Orioles traded Eric Bedard for five players, one of the named Adam Jones, I knew the Orioles had made a deal that would pay major dividends for the future.

I immediately rushed out to get an Adam Jones t- shirt jersey and he quickly became my favorite current Oriole but he is working his way to be my favorite Oriole of all time.

It is perfectly acceptable for a man to have a man crush on an athlete and Adam Jones is mine.

Jones was the Mariners best prospect and was ranked one of the highest in baseball at the time of the trade.

Five tool player is a term that is not used to describe many players but is the first term used when describing Jones.

The “five tools” are speed and base running ability, power, fielding ability, hit for average, and throwing ability.

Last season Jones was missing power as he only hit 9 home runs and drove in 57 runs. People knew Jones would hit for a higher average and more power but few, if any, expected it to happen this quickly.

As I just watched him hit his second home run of the game that drove in his 2nd, 3rd and 4th runs of the game, I couldn’t help think of my own term to describe Jones- BEAST.

Jones now has 8 home runs and 25 RBI’s and is on pace to shatter last year’s offensive numbers.

With the Orioles struggles over the last 11 seasons there have been few reasons to go to the Yard but Adam Jones is one reason why people should.

By the time everything is said and done the Erik Bedard for Adam Jones deal could go down as one of the most lopsided deals of all- time and might even make Orioles fans forget the Glen Davis deal.

So Orioles fans start to take note, you might just be watching one of the greatest players to ever don an Orioles uniform.

Adam Jones, YOU SIR ARE A BEAST!!!
