I’ll admit it ….. I do watch bits and pieces of the Academy Awards presentation, each year. I’m a big movie buff, and I do think the Hollywood Foreign Press usually gets it right, when they dole out Oscar trophies. (** they got it WRONG on Best Actor – it was Mickey Rourke)
Yep, even ass-hats win these awards, if they deserve ‘em. Just look at Sean Penn – if he’s a baseball player, he’d never be MVP or a first ballot HOF’er. Then again, so many actors are jerks, it would be virtually impossible to exclude those who are anything less than humble and engaging. Perhaps, if Albert Belle was an actor and he gave a masterful performance, he would be recognized.
So, in a twist on the Academy Awards, I’m gonna recognize some people/teams from today’s world of sports, whom I think deserve some special recognition. My sports Oscars would go to the following …..
Best Player in MLB – Ryan Braun, Milwaukee Brewers
Best Player in NFL – Nnamdi Asomugha, Oakland Raiders
Best Player in NBA – Lebron James, Cleveland Cavaliers
Best Player in NHL – Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals
Best Driver in NASCAR – Kyle Busch, Joe Gibbs Motorsports
