Baby Ethan and wnsTV

August 22, 2007 | Drew Forrester

15 days old…and Baby Ethan is going to be a TV star.

I have the WNST video camera in my possession and I’ll be putting together a video piece for wnsTV that documents life in the Forrester house as we know it right now.

It promises to be funny.  Well, if you consider me getting 3-4 hours of sleep “funny”, you’re in for a barrel of laughs.  But you’ll get a nice glimpse into what new parenthood is like…and I must say, sleep deprivation and all, I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

I bumped into a friend of mine this afternoon at the Perry Hall Starbucks – Jonathan Anders (he was a member of Mountain Branch for a few years…an outstanding golfer…and a real gentleman of a guy).  He and his wife are expecting their first child on December 15.  He’s very excited, of course.  I didn’t really offer any fatherly advice since I’ve only been at it for 15 days, but had he asked, I merely would have said, “just roll with it…if you’re up from 2am-5am, just enjoy it.  If you’re changing a poopee-diaper and you, uh, get squirted on…just laugh it off and give your baby a kiss…if he or she burps and accidentally discharges on your neck…who cares?”

He didn’t ask, so I didn’t tell.  But it’s fairly simple advice to heed, I think.

I’m enjoying the heck out of fatherhood.  Joanne and Ethan are healthy and even Woody (our cat) has adjusted well to his new roommate.

All’s well here.  You’ll see for yourself sometime tomorrow when Ethan makes his wnsTV debut.

I’m off to take a nap now.  Any new parents out there know the theory: When the baby sleeps, YOU sleep.
