Best Player in the NFL Draft: Chris Long- UVA

February 25, 2008 |

As I sit here watching the NFL combines in Indianapolis- I realize one thing- Chris Long is as fit as I’ve ever seen any defensive end. He just ran the 40 in 4.75 seconds and has less tha 5% body fat. Oh- let’s not forget his 34 inch verticle jump. That’s crazy…In addition- he single handidly beat Maryland this year with a safety.

Long, 6-3, 272 pounds, tied for third in the nation with 14 sacks last season, was a first-team All-American and ACC Defensive Player of the Year. In addition, 28 percent of his tackles were behind the line of scrimmage.

Take a look at what else Long did this year:

•He intercepted a pass and returned it 25 yards to set up the game-winning field goal in a 22-20 win at North Carolina on Sept. 15

•He blocked a field goal in Virginia’s 23-21 win at Middle Tennessee.

Long was double and triple teamed all year. He’s a stud -and the advertisers are gonna pay him just like his daddy (Howie Long). Move over Howie-Chevy Truck might dump you and hire your son.

Chris Long- you’re a beast…I expect to see you in a Raiders uniform this year. Good luck!!
