BLAST AND MPT TEAM UP TO TELEVISE FOUR GAMES
First Game will Air on Maryland Public Television on January 25
The Baltimore Blast announced the schedule for the team’s four live Maryland Public Television broadcasts. The Blast vs. Milwaukee Wave game on Friday, January 25 will be the first of the four games to air on MPT.
“We are excited about our partnership with Maryland Public Television,” said Blast President and General Manager Kevin Healey. “The ability to put our games on TV in the local market will allow our community to see the exciting product we put on the field.”
The four-game deal marks the first time that MPT will broadcast a live professional sporting event. Three of the four games will be broadcast on MPT’s digital channel and the fourth game will be available on the analog channel. MPT, a mission-driven, membership organization that engages the community through quality programs and services, has more than two million viewers weekly. MPT is a state-licensed, public TV station that is available in 99% of all TV households in Maryland, as well as Washington, DC, parts of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware and Northern Virginia.
“Baltimore Blast games have a wonderful track record of providing our community with great wholesome family entertainment,” said Robert J. Shuman, President and CEO of Maryland Public Television. “With our statewide reach and a mission of public service, MPT is thrilled to bring some of this season’s Blast games to the broader community we serve.”
In keeping with the Blast tradition of teaming up with local partners, the team will continue to work with VPC, Inc., a current production partner of the Blast. VPC, a production company, multimedia content producer, and technology systems designer and integrator, has worked with the Blast for three seasons, producing the Arena Vision videoboard show. Keith Mills will be the color announcer for all four games and Gary Stein and Paul Mittermeier will share the play-by-play duties.
