To be quite honest, I enjoy watching golf about as much as I like going to the dentist. But, the Masters leader-board is like a train wreck. You don’t really want to look, but something inside you begs you to. The reason why I look, and why most “very casual” golf fans look, is to see where Tiger is at, and if he has a chance to win on Sunday.
Fifty four holes into the biggest tournament of the year, Tiger Woods is not leading it. Kenny Perry and Angel Cabrera sit atop the leader-board at -11. Tiger, who hasn’t shot under 70 for the tournament sits at -4. Yesterday, Tiger started his round with a double bogey, but finished his round -2. He’s no closer to the top today, than he was yesterday.
So, the question is, can Tiger Woods win the Masters today? Well, if any of the golfers between him and the green jacket think “NO”, then they better watch out. Tiger has proven time and time again, that he is not the normal golfer. He won’t mail in the final round. He’s probably the greatest golfer in history. (and if he isn’t, by the time he’s finished, I’m almost positive he will be) That being said, if Tiger comes out today, and birdies 2 of the first 3 holes and gets to within 5 shots of the lead, Perry and Cabrera better watch out. Tiger’s come back from huge deficits on Sunday before. He’s a true champion. And I certainly will not bet against him. Kenny and Angel need to remember that “it’s not over til it’s over.” I know Tiger thinks that way.
