Thanks to everyone at Club Paradise for having us out for UFC 73 last night. I was impressed by the club and enjoyed the atmosphere. If you were there, you would know what I mean. Also thanks to Sean Stinnett for coming out, although I am sure he had other thought after I talked his head off about the UFC and the fights.
As far as the PPV goes, while it did not live up to maybe the hype that was put on it, but what does anymore, it was a very solid and action packed card. I was even 3 out of 5 on my predictions for the fight, and technically you can say 3 ½ because I picked Tito and in my twisted way he didn’t lose the fight so.
Heath Herring vs Antonio Nogueira – I picked Herring, and he had opportunities to win, but did not take advantage of them. I agree with Nogueira winning, but not by unanimous decision.
Sean Sherk vs Hermes Franca- Folks this was a lesson in how to impose your will on another fighter. Sherk was on Franca like a pit bull on another pit bull at Michael Vick’s house. Sherk is in amazing shape and pushed the fight all night long, even when he was going in for takedowns and eating knees for it. Very impressive win, made a real statement.
Tito Ortiz vs Rashad Evans – Good fight and had Tito not been penalized for grabbing the cage, he would have won. I felt like Tito imposed his will more than what Rashad did, but Rashad had a nice 3rd round. This will just set up a rematch for probably an Ultimate Fight Night on Spike sometime.
Anderson Silva vs Nate Marquardt – Nate had the fight were he wanted it, on the ground, but Anderson got control and pounded Nate’s face pretty hard with 4 or 5 shots in a row.
Kenny Florian vs Anthony Robinson – Welcome to the UFC Mr Robinson, and based on your performance, your stay might be a short one.
Now my goal is to get to one of these PPV’s and cover it live.
Now I can focus on trying to find ticket’s to the Nickelback concert on Wednesday night.
