July 31, 2009 | Keith Melchior

Do you want to make a little extra money to pay for beer at the stadium this season?  In these difficult economic times, sports officiating is a good way to help supplement your income. we are currently recruiting those who would like to learn how to become a football official.

If you are currently an official in another organization or are interested in becoming a youth football referee, please send an email to me at We serve the Harford Baltimore County Youth Football League which is the largest youth football organization in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic with over 360 teams.

If you are committed to improving your game, this can be a stepping stone to refereeing high school and college ball.  Our training seminar begins Thursday August 6th at 7pm, Middle River Rec Center located at  Compass Rd and Martin Blvd. Youth season begins play on August 28 and wraps up prior to Thanksgiving.  The Officials association dues are $40 per season. You will need to provide the proper uniforms and accessories. Game fees are $45 and $50 depending on whether it is a 2 or 3 person crew. The minimum is  2 to 3 games on Saturdays, depending on your availability.
