Maryland and Loyola each hosted second round games in the NCAA Mens Soccer Tournament tonight. They came away with mixed results. The Terps used a 19-4 advantage in shots to beat George Mason 2-0 before 2,064 people in College Park. Casey Townsend and Graham Zusi each had a first half goal for the Terps. Maryland moves on to the Sweet Sixteen where they will host either UC- Santa Barbara or Cal Saturday afternoon at 1pm.

Loyola wasn’t as fortunate. In front of 1,328 people at Geppi-Aikens Field, the Greyhounds dominated the first half and took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal by Phil Bannister. In the second half the field tilted in the other direction as UNC Greensboro started to dominate possession. Nirav Kadam scored for UNCG in the 73rd minuted to level the game at 1 goal each. It would stay that way until the second minute of overtime when Corey Maret scored the game winning goal as UNCG ended the Greyhounds season. Loyola finishes the season at 18-2-1. The Spartans who are now 10-11-2 advance to play South Florida this weekend in the Sweet Sixteen
