Inside the Octagon: UFC 7

May 27, 2007 |

Well all though I did not like the end result of Chuck Liddell getting knocked out, it did prove why the UFC is becoming so big. Simply because anything can happen with one punch as you saw tonight.

Overall I thought it was a really good show:

Chris Leban vs Kalib Starnes:  Starnes by unanimous decision.
Pretty even fight; decision could have gone either way.

Houston Alexander vs Keith Jardine: Alexander by knockout
Alexander just walked through Jardine, very impressive.

Terry Martin vs Ivan Salaverry: Martin TKO.
Salaverry was knocked out after a slam by Martin.

Karo Parisyan vs Josh Burkman: Parisyan by decision
Good fight, Parisyan was more active and had a nice throw

Din Thomas vs Jeremy Stephens: Thomas by tapout
Was a good fight, Stephens said he did not tap, but he was about to have some serious damage done to his arm.

Quinton Jackson vs Chuck Liddell: Jackson by TKO.
Wow, I have to admit I was shocked, but give the devil his due, Jackson saw his chance and landed the punch on Liddell. Liddell was clearly on Dream Street, and the ref did the right thing by stopping it.

Couple of staff at WNST guessed what they thought would happen in the fight, and Ray Bachman was the only person to say Jackson. Not that he had any real reason, just because everyone else was for Liddell.

I am looking forward to next UFC PPV from Ireland that will feature one of my other favorite fighters in Rich “Ace” Franklin. It is a 3 p.m. start in the U.S., so I say we have a get together some where and watch it.
