Inside the octagon: UFC note

June 09, 2007 |

Last night was a very interesting night of fights on The Ultimate Fighter. In the first of the two quarter final matches, Corey Hill took on Nate Diaz. Corey was very impressive in the fight, although he was ultimately caught in a triangle choke that ended the fight. Corey is a guy that hopefully will get many more fights in the UFC.

The second fight of the night was pretty interesting for many other reasons, as Matt Wiman took on Manny Gamburyan. Matt seemed like he was way more worried about not getting hit in the face than trying to win the fight. Some of the comments about Matt’s performance were pretty interesting to hear. Manny has a very good mentor and coach in his cousin Karo Parisyan. Karo “The Heat” is one of the top contenders in the UFC in the welterweight division.

Next week looks like it could be drama filled with Karo and Nate Diaz. Karo has some history with the Diaz name as he has fought Nate’s brother Nick at UFC 49. The promo for next weeks show looks like there could be a little out of the ring altercation close to happening.

-saw the Iceman Chuck Liddell on David Letterman last night. Not that interesting, Dave clearly did not do or have someone do much research for his interview with Chuck.

-tonight on Spike TV, they will show the final fight from The Ultimate Fighter 2 at 9 p.m.
