Despite a 4-0 loss at Philly this past Saturday there are some good stats for the Blast as they look to get things going in the New Year.
At 6-6 they have played 1-3 less games then most of their competition. They can make up ground without having to watch the scoreboard. They currently sit in sixth place and would qualify for the playoffs under the new format. The defense only gives up 8.6 ppg which is best in the MISL. The offense avg’s 10.1 per game which has hurt them so far this year and needs to improve quickly. The shutout at Philly didn’t help but the Blast has struggled all year to score. I wonder if the recently released MLS player Santino Quaranta would help if he’s interested in indoor soccer.
Adauto Neto’s return to action full time should help the offense and new addition “Lucio” seems to hold some promise as well for creating some chances that the offense has lacked to this point in time.
The Blast heads to New Jersey to face the Ironmen this weekend. They will have to start winning on the road in order to move up the standings. This will be a good test as they handled the Ironmen this past Friday at the Arena 15-2. Now the challenge will be to repeat that performance on the road against a team ahead of them in the standings.
