Joe Angel takes a shot at the Red Sox (warning: this is really funny)

September 30, 2009 | Drew Forrester

So I was heading back from speaking to the good folks at Ravens Nest #8 in Middle River tonight and as I was leaving Bill Bateman’s Express, I flipped on the O’s/Tampa Bay game.

It’s 5-0 in favor of Tampa Bay in the 6th or 7th inning…I don’t even know, to be honest.  I just know it’s 5-0 and the O’s have, I think, 2 hits.

Anyway, Joe Angel just said something that almost made me drive off the road into the athletic fields of Middle River Middle School.

Here’s the exchange between Angel and radio partner Fred Manfra.

Manfra:  On the out-of-town scoreboard, the Toronto Blue Jays are putting it to the Red Sox tonight, leading 10-0 behind Roy Halladay, who has a no-hitter going through five innings.

Angel:  Yeah, the Red Sox clinched a post-season spot last night but they’re on the verge of losing their sixth straight game.

Manfra:  You’re right, Joe, that would mark six straight defeats for the Red Sox.

Angel:  That, my friend, is no way to finish the season, losing six games in a row.

Yes, he REALLY did say that.

Uh, Joe?  Hello?  Joe?

The O’s have lost 12 straight, maybe 13 in a row if they fall tonight.

If losing six straight is “no way to finish the season”, what on earth is losing 12 straight called?

These radio guys — they say the darndest things, don’t they?
