KOBST competition was an amazing experience

May 28, 2009 |

The atmosphere was electric last night at Padonia Station as WNST crowned the King of Baltimore Sportstalk.

Everyone did an amazing job but when Nestor called all seven finalist to the stage and moved myself, Lawson, Todd and Luke to one side of the stage, I had a feeling I was in the top four.

Todd and Lawson, who both have been amazing throughout the competition, were announced as the fourth and third place finishers leaving just myself and Luke Jones vying for the title.

As the names were being called my crowd, who was absolutely, amazing, started chanting my name making me feel like a star. I thank all of them for their support and I would not have made it this far without them.

Finally the time had come for Nestor to announce the winner and to be honest, I thought Luke was going to win. When Nestor started talking about the reason why the winner had won I realized that I had finished in second.

I have been talking to all of the finalists on facebook and I consider all of them my friends. Everyone was worthy of the title, so it was a privilege for me to make it down to the final two.

Luke is passionate and knowledgeable about Baltimore sports and he is one of the nicest kids I have ever met. Initially, finishing second stung, but when I look back on things the better guy won and I wish him all the best.

Thanks to WNST, Nestor ,Drew, Bob, Glen and Brian Billick for not only coming out last night, but for the kind words after the competition. All of them told me that I did a good job and had a future in this business and that meant the world to me.

This competition was one of the best experiences of my life and gave me the confidence that I can make it this business.

Congrats again to all the competitors and especially Luke Jones, and if you need someone to take on the cruise, I think I am free, just throwing that out there.

Last night just showed that WNST is the best sports media entity when it comes to Baltimore sports and it means the world to me that they thought so highly of me.

Lastly, I want to thank the great Baltimore sports fans, you guys are the most passionate sports fans in the country and it has been a pleasure sharing my opinions with you.

I have spent the first 25 years of my life here and I don’t want to live anywhere else. You guys are what makes the sports media business go and I thank you for listening , commenting on my blogs and for the kind words.

There were no losers in this competition and it was pleasure to be in the finals with such a tremendous group of Baltimore sports fans.
