Live from M&T Bank Stadium: Ravens-Texans inactives and pre-game notes

October 16, 2011 | Luke Jones

BALTIMORE — Looking to improve to 4-1 after their Week 5 bye, the Baltimore Ravens host the 3-2 Houston Texans in Baltimore for the first time since 2005.

Of course, these teams met in Houston last season in a 34-28 overtime thriller in which the Ravens squandered a 21-point lead in the second half and needed Josh Wilson interception return for a touchdown in overtime to hold on. Both teams are banged up as Baltimore had four players ruled out on Friday while the Texans are reeling from the loss of Mario Williams for the season and ruled out star receiver Andre Johnson on Friday as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

If the Ravens win today, they will improve to 4-1 for the fourth time in franchise history. They also started the 2000, 2006, and 2010 seasons with four wins in their first five games on the schedule.

In addition to the four players already ruled out (Lee Evans, Chris Carr, Tom Zbikowski, and Jimmy Smith), starting left guard Ben Grubbs will miss his fourth consecutive game with a right toe injury. Grubbs was limited in practice all week and coach John Harbaugh revealed his toe had been stepped on during practice, leading to decreased activity on Thursday and Friday.
