What was a 2-point halftime lead for Northeastern turned into a runaway in the second half as the Huskies showed why they’re one of the top teams in the CAA with a 73-48 win on Wednesday night at the Towson Center.
Northeastern used precision passing and a torrid shooting night (53.7% from the field) to pull away, but not before they dismantled Towson’s interior with 20 second half points in the paint.
Chaisson Allen (16) and Manny Adako (15) led Northeastern, now 7-1 in the conference. All-CAA guard Matt Janning – with NBA scouts on press row watching him – got into early foul trouble and finished the game with just 9 points.
Josh Brown had 12 first half points for the Tigers and finished the game with a career-high 14.
No other player reached double figures for Towson.
Robert Nwankwo led the Tigers with 8 rebounds but was limited throughout most of the night due to a left shoulder injury.
The Tigers return to action against George Mason on Saturday at 4:00 pm at the Towson Center.

Another second half that will leave Pat Kennedy scratching his head as his Towson Tigers have scored 10 points in the first 12 minutes of the second half and now trail Northeastern, 56-34.
Manny Adako now leads all scorers with 15 points for the Huskies, while Chaisson Allen has 13.
Josh Brown has 14 for the Tigers. No other player on Towson’s team has more than 5 points.

Northeastern is showing their CAA mettle in the second half at the Towson Center, as the Huskies have outscored Towson 19-6 to start the final 20 minutes and they now lead, 45-30.
Chaisson Allen leads all scorers with 13 points while Matt Janning has 9 points, all on 3-pointers.
Josh Brown leads the Tigers with 12 points.

Northeastern came out with energy to start the 2nd half and has quickly pulled out to a 33-26 lead with just 2:28 elapsed.
Chaisson Allen and Matt Janning both have early three-pointers for the Huskies, who led 26-24 at the half.

A good 20 minutes of basketball for the Towson Tigers, as they are well in this one tonight at the Towson Center. Northeastern leads 26-24 at the half, but Towson carried the play for the most part during the opening 20 minutes. The difference thus far was a 10-0 Huskies’ run in a 2:35 span midway through the half.
Josh Brown (10 points) leads all scorers. The junior guard started tonight due to an injury to Brian Morris and the benching of Troy Franklin for the third straight game.
Chaisson Allen leads a balanced Northeastern scoring attack with 6 points.
All CAA-guard Matt Janning has as many points (3) as fouls (3) and was a non-factor in the first half.

Towson’s battling CAA leader Northeastern tonight at the Towson Center and it’s 22-21 in favor of the Huskies with 3:32 left in the first half. Josh Brown continues to lead the Tigers with 10 points. Chaisson Allen has 6 to pace Northeastern.
It’s a fair, hard-fought, fast game thus far. Towson has the rebounding edge, 13-12, and the Tigers are 4-9 from 3-point range, with two of those 3-pointers coming from Brown.

Two minutes ago, I asked, “Could this be the night Towson knocks off a CAA power?”
Two minutes later, Northeastern has rattled off 10 straight points to lead 22-16 at the Towson Center.
A 3-pointer from Chaisson Allen just moments ago finished off that 10-0 run.
Pat Kennedy called a time-out and ripped into his team for their lack of effort on defense.
