After winning only 5 times in 18 tries during the CAA regular season, the Towson Tigers have now won back-to-back games in the conference tournament, stunning #3 seed Northeastern last night, 58-54, in Richmond, VA.

The win moves Pat Kennedy’s Tigers into the tournament semi-finals against George Mason later today (5:30pm) in Richmond.  George Mason beat Towson twice during the CAA regular season.

On Saturday, Junior Hairston scored 14 points and Troy Franklin added 13 for Towson, who hadn’t won back-to-back games since early January.

In fact, Towson’s two tournament opponents thus far, Drexel and Northeastern, were 3-0 against Towson during the CAA regular season.

Virginia Commonwealth (#1) and Old Dominion (#4) play in the other CAA semi-final today in Richmond.
